2. Recycle Your Old Fridge When You Buy a New Fridge
Many appliance retailers will pick up and
recycle your old fridge when you purchase a new one. Consider asking your retailer
for assurance that the old unit will be properly recycled and not re-sold as an
inefficient, second-hand unit.
Best Buy offers free recycling of your old unit on a 1-to-1
basis when you buy a new refrigerator and receive basic delivery. Additional units may be
recycled for a fee.
3. Talk to Your Local Scrap Metal Recycler
There are thousands of scrap metal recyclers that can recycle your old fridge. You may want to ask your scrap metal recycler
for assurance that your old unit will be properly recycled.
